The Atlanta Georgia Club will be taking Amtrak to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the Marshall football game weekend and all HERD failtful are invited!
We will provide round-trip ATL-HBG-ATL train transportation on the famed Amtrak Crescent, departing Atlanta Friday 19-Oct morning and returning Sunday evening 21-Oct.

Meals are NOT included in the fare; all food and beverage en route is the responsibility of the traveler. There is a Bar Car and a Dining Car or you can bring a cooler with your own; just don’t take it to the Bar Car or Dining Car.
We will provide two nights lodging at the Hampton Inn Hattiesburg (4301 Hardy Street / Hattiesburg, MS 39402 / 601.264-8080). This is a nice centrally-located property in safe neighborhood and just 2.5 miles from the University of Southern Mississippi campus and The Rock. Room rate includes hot breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning. Each traveler will make their own reservation direct with this Hampton Inn using res-code MAR and guaranteed on their own credit card; payment at check-out. We have thirty (30) rooms reserved; when they are gone, they are gone, so you are encouraged to act quickly on this.
We will provide ground transportation (Rental Vans from Avis – Bill Price and Jim Summers will be the designated drivers) in Hattiesburg from the train station to the hotel upon arrival Friday afternoon, hotel to game-day activities and hotel to the train station Sunday morning.This also allows us more flexibility in providing transportation for any special events or activities that might yet be planned.
We will provide a ticket to the Marshall vs Southern Miss Football game at The Rock on Saturday; game-time has yet to be announced (TBA).

Weekender Reservation and Payment Process
Regardless of fare-type, standard or senior, a $100.00 per traveler deposit must be received by Saturday 30-June. Please make your checks payable to MUAA Atlanta Herd Club and mail to Bill Price (1011 Ashebrooke Way / Marietta, GA 30068). Please remember to indicate traveler names as they appear on photo identification – yes, Amtrak follows the same passenger identification process as the airlines – and fare-type (standard or senior). The balance will be due and payable by Saturday 18-Aug.
OPTIONAL Special Events
(1) We have tentatively scheduled at casual-attire Friday dinner at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. Cathy Peeler, former Atlanta Herd Club Member and current Hattiesburg resident, will serve as hostess. Each diner will be responsible for his/her food and beverage bill. We will either order from the menu or pre-order from a selection of menu items; this process will be group-size dependent. We are working on a guest speaker from Marshall. Van transportation will be provided to/from Canebrake.
(2) Assuming a mid-/late-afternoon or evening kickoff, the MUAA and/or Big Green Scholarship Foundation will likely host a pre-game Tailgate Party near The Rock. As game-time is TBA, these plans have not be made. The estimated per-person charge for this event is $25.00; reservations and payment, direct to MUAA or BGSF, will be the responsibility of the traveler. Van transportation will be provided to/from the tailgate. We are working with the University of Southern Mississippi Department of Parking Management to ensure close-to-Tailgate drop-off and near-the-stadium van parking for easy post-game walk.
This promises to be another great trip. We are looking forward to having a lot of fun, including a Marshall Football victory.
